Make a Breakfast Parfait
+ Creating Safe & Healthier Meals
There are several ways to make a parfait! As a matter of fact, I like to say, "there's no wrong way to make a parfait!" Just have fun with it!
The Better Living for Texans (BLT) program provides today's recipe with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.
- BLT helps families make better choices with their limited resources β it provides research-based nutrition programs that are cost-free and close to home.
- AgriLife Extension is a unique education agency that teaches Texans wherever they live, extending research-based knowledge to benefit their families and communities.
The breakfast parfait recipe is one of the recipes provided from "A Fresh Start to a Healthier You!" series (a program from BLT). This series was implemented for the month of August (2021) with FABLOW AgriLife.
A Fresh Start to a Healthier You! is a four-session series for adults on the 2021 FABLOW AgriLife FB Group.
- Learn to increase fruit & vegetable intake.
- Learn to cook nutritious meals & spend less on groceries.
Lesson 1

Recipe for the week: Breakfast Parfait! π
Build a βBetterβ Parfait!
General Tips include:
- Choose low-fat yogurt. For extra protein, use low-fat Greek yogurt. - *FYI: The recipes asks for low-fat yogurt - in my video demo I used low-fat Greek yogurt.
- Read the nutrition label and choose yogurt low in sugar (less than 7g per serving).
- Top your parfait with diced, fresh fruit instead of buying yogurt blended with fruit. - *The Breakfast Parfait recipe is packed with fresh and canned fruit! I used the trio-berry (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries) in my video demo for extra goodness.
- Add some crunch with toppings such as low-fat and low-sugar granola. - *My video demo topped the parfait with macadamia nuts!
